Dear Friends,

Every new year brings new possibilities and excitement, and we have a lot to be excited about here in the City of Henderson. We'd like to give a warm welcome to our new fire chief, Matt Morris. We look forward to our continued partnership with the city and their unrelenting support. Together, we're making Henderson a safer place to live, work and play.

In late January, the Henderson Professional Fire Fighters will once again join the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross in their annual "Fire Hurts, Red Cross Helps" campaign, to assist families in Southern Nevada who have been displaced by house fires. The campaign is aimed at raising awareness for fire prevention, which goes hand in hand with fire safety.

February is Heart Month and, with that in mind, we urge all Henderson citizens to focus on heart health. We are in the top tier of cardiac arrest survivability in the nation.  It is our training, and rapid response with appropriate resources that allow this level of life safety.  We do not take this distinction lightly, and we are proud to help make Henderson a HeartSafe Community.

We look forward to continuing our annual safety programs "Safe Pools Rule!" and "Check your Seats in the Heat," to educate the community, raise awareness, and ultimately save lives. It is essential to remember these types of incidents are preventable - one death is one too many when it comes to pool safety and our hot summer temperatures. We hope that all residents will educate themselves of the dangers so we can all have a safe and enjoyable summer.

As we look to the future, we will be working closely with our city council to ensure that we have enough resources to continue a level of premier service.  As our community has continued to grow, even through the recession, we find ourselves stretched as far as we can to maintain our response times.

We are proud to be an advocate for safety, education and civic service in our Henderson community and look forward to continuing this important work in 2016. A year of possibilities lies ahead, and we look forward to serving you each and every day.

Sincerely,

Dan Pentkowski
President
Henderson Professional Fire Fighters
